What We Believe
While we look for new and relevant ways of expressing our faith and our commitment to our community, we affirm the principles and traditions of the Christian church in statements such as the Apostles' Creed. It states:
We believe In God the Father Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
and In Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord.
Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontlus Pllate,
was crucified, dead and buried.
He descended Into hell.
The third day He rose again from the dead.
He ascended Into heaven,
and sits at the right hand of the Almighty,
from there He shall come to Judge the living and the dead.
We believe In the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlastlng.
As a community church, we appreciate and respect all Christian denominations that know, love and serve the Lord Jesus. We are affiliated with one of the largest Protestant communities, the Baptists. We affirm the importance of religious liberty and the separation of church and state, while encouraging people to be interested and involved in the community around them.
Like many churches, we believe each of us must personally trust God in working out our relationship with Him through prayer, Bible study, life experience, fellowship and instruction. As a result this tradition has a reputation as a place with room for everyone. For example, the Christian tradition has included such diverse persons as Martin Luther King Jr., John Diefenbaker, Tommy Douglas, David Lam, Shirley Bentall, Billy Graham and Jimmy Carter.
