00:00-03:08 Scripture, Genesis 26:12-24, Colossians 3:12-17
03:14-40:06 Sermon, Jeremy Bell
Theme: The world and indeed human existence, has always been directly tied to the availability of water. Aridity in all its forms: drought, erosion and habitat loss have all contributed to the compromise of safe, secure and clean water. The concern over water does not just exist in the Genesis 26 passage. Cities like Cape Town and Rome are literally running out of water as we meet today. Our text today starts with the death of Abraham and follows his son Isaac ‘s struggle for survival. We will contrast the struggle in Genesis 26 with Jesus’ offer of “living water” in John 4 :7 - 15. Genesis 26 helps us to reflect on the “wells” in our own lives; those places where we are nourished, those places where the wells have been filled in and blocked, by others and sometimes even by ourselves.
